OET (Occupational English Test)

Occupational English Test, OET has become the de facto English language proficiency test for healthcare professionals looking to begin their medical career abroad. Communication plays a vital role in the healthcare setting, and proficiency in English is a compulsory requirement. Being widely recognised by major healthcare bodies in various English-speaking countries, this test is highly sought by aspiring medical students. Unlike other language tests such as IELTS, TOEFL and SAT which are generally for the general population, OET is specifically designed for healthcare professionals.

Test Format

For years, Tincy’s Academy has offered quality training to various healthcare professionals and they all have succeeded with flying colours. We are primarily offering online OET training which in turn allows students to enrol for the training at their comfort. In terms of quality of education, training, student satisfaction and success rate, we are miles ahead as compared to our competitors.

The OET test format includes the following sections which are listening, reading, writing and speaking. Like any other language test, OET aims to evaluate the performance of the candidate under these skills and finally assigns a score which officially confirms their proficiency level to the concerned healthcare authorities. Being in the industry for quite some time and understanding the OET test format, we have developed the best learning methodology which has proven successful for all students from time to time.

Listening

In a three-part session that lasts approximately 45 minutes, the listening test primarily evaluates the candidate’s ability to understand spoken English in various healthcare contexts.

Reading

In this three-part session, candidates' reading and comprehension ability are tested. The session usually consists of 60 minutes.

Writing

The purpose of this task is to analyze the writing skills of the candidate. With a time duration of 45 minutes and the first 5 minutes allotted to read, the test involves letter writing based on the patient’s case notes.

Speaking

This test focuses on the candidate’s verbal skills by initiating a role-play session in which the candidate interacts with an interlocutor, who takes the role of patient or carer. The session usually lasts approximately 20 minutes.
